So many things can be said about this picture. So many thoughts come to our minds when we view it. What happened here? How long has it been? Were any lives lost here?
Of course, we as viewers can only speculate what happened. What I love about this picture is the fact that this place still used wallpaper instead of paint. Wallpaper was usually used in the olden days, before simple interior wall paint was an easier choice.
After all, who wants to use wallpaper these days?
The darkness of the wallpaper suggests fire had something to do with the decay, as does the ash and debris-covered wooden floor. The backs of the wallpaper has a yellow film, suggesting a fair amount of nicotine-containing smoke had once clung to these walls.
Overall, I give everything a 4.5 star rating because, nothing is ever perfect aside from the Impact -- which I feel greatly impacts one's mind. It brings out many questions and curiosities and really gets one into thinking about how grand a place like this might've been back in the day.
Well done! Keep up the fantastic photography and keep bringing us stories captured on the film of your camera! A thousand words can be said with a photograph, and this here is a perfect example.
My first thought is "Where in the world did the photographer find such a place?" When I look at this photo I wonder how glorious this place must have looked at one time, before such decay took place, before the ceiling caved in, before the wallpaper peeled off. What sort of devistation caused this disaster? Was it a fire, a tornado...or just plain neglect. How many people slept here, lived here for short periods of time. The placement of the chair is perfect. One can picture the ghost of people past who visited this remarkable place. This is truly a great and moving photo. Congratulations to the photographer. A true artist.... Thanks.....SAT
