There are certain things to know and be aware of when you visit Las Vegas.
I hope these help you enjoy yourself.
1. WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES! You will walk a LOT farther than you ever imagine and that space needle tower called The Stratosphere…It looks a whole lot closer than it really is.  If you are at The Sahara – The Stratosphere is still a mile away.
2. Don't take taxis in Vegas. Take a limo and arrive in STYLE! A taxi ride from Mandalay Bay on one end of the Strip to the Fremont Experience at the other end ten miles away will run $46 plus a tip and you may have to wait 20 minutes in line for a cab. Ask at the Bell Desk for a Limo and it will cost $50 for an hour and is waiting for you in 3 minutes.  Plus, the word spreads fast that you came in a limo and the people employed at the casino treat you differently, better.
3. Ask and you shall receive.  You've heard of all the free stuff the casinos give away?  It's true.

Thinking outside the box with your photographyThought that I would write something real fast and give you guys an idea for the next time you are out shooting!
Now, with that being said and out of the way, I have a little photo tip for you all and hopefully this will throw some ideas into your head. one of the things which I love to do is use a very long lens to study the landscape. Think 300mm and longer here. Of course this requires a tripod to really get a sharp shot and usually fstops at around f16. This though opens up a whole new world to you and your images. In a sense it is similar to photographing macro images in that you start to see things, details, which you never would notice in the first place. A whole world of textures, patterns, light, color and intimate details starts to open up to you. These are what I call "compression landscapes". they are simply a blast to take and I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the world which starts to open to you.  It's pretty amazing! below I have gone ahead and shared a few pi

So what is this about?
February is after all my fav month of the year and I wanted to do something special. I wrote down a series of nominations, and something that started very randomly became kind of a great idea.

Under the bridge 2I take my walks. By my self. Got no dog, but a camera. Makes my walks double nice. Photographing as I walk along – it gives the feeling I am working at the same time time being free from the computer. I like taking photos – must are a not very good, so when I come back I throw most of them away. But it does not matter much. I usually visit the same spots over and over, some places have potental, and I am just waiting for the perfect light...... Here is one my favorite places. Under the Liljeholmen bridge in Stockholm. The light, the shadows, the reflections in the water or the ice, the many interesting vertical lines and of course the zig zag stairs..... I have photpgraphed this bridge for over ten years and and everyday there is something new to see. Urban Exploration #8 "Urban explorers are a bit like children...if you tell them not to do something, they're going to do it anyway..."
This week, Urban Exploration has surprisingly been in the news a fair bit. With articles ranging from what it's all about to asking the public whether urban explorers pose a threat to national security. For something that is secretive, for the most part, and often overlooked and not thought of, there has been a fair bit of discussion! There is also an article claiming that Urban Exploration Photographs Pose a Security Risk. Admittedly, I can see a bit of where they're coming from but honestly, the whole thing is a bit hyped up. Circles It's the blaze across my nightgown

The new year is almost 3 weeks old already, and the feeling of only going in circles is strong.
There is not enough light yet to be inspired. Only in the weekends I have some time to be out in the shiny daylight. Last weekend was immensely beautiful here. Sunny, very cold, with frost covering every tree, every branch.
I went out, but of course the batteries went flat as soon as I started shooting.

Then I told myself I already have so many shots similar to the ones I was aiming to take anyway. From last winter, and the winter before that, not to mention all the images of the icecold winter before that again.
Circles. On
Medium - How to focus at night (hyperfocal)Hello again, and sorry by not posting anything for a long time, I've been a bit busy with University stuff and other projects.
I'll talk about how I use the hyperfocal rule, which is very useful, especially shooting in low light conditions, like in the night. You'll need a lantern and a camera. And it'd be great if you had an smartphone, you'll find out why if you continue reading.
The hyperfocal rule serves to calculate at which distance we should focus to make not only the foreground subject appear focused (whatever: a house, a tree, etc), but the background as well (the infinite point focused, so that stars, for example, appear focused too). This distance will depend on many factors: the aperture, the focal lenght, the circle of confusion, etc. But fortunately this won't be a maths class: you can download apps for your smartphone or find on the internet hyperfocal distances for your camera depending on these factors, so that you'll have to calculate nothing. Infos about the abandoned locations

I know that a lot of you are curious to get more information about the abandoned places in my photos and I receive a lot of questions about them.
There is a reason that I don't give any though. I do love abandoned buildings, I see so much beauty in those places. Unfortunately, many people don't.
I do act very respectful inside those places, but there are too many idiots out there that don't behave like me.
I've seen so much vandalism, theft and other bad things happening to those buildings after they have become popular, that I will do all I can to protect those beauties.
Therefore, I don't give any infos about the location (not even the country) or history about them since every little piece of info makes it easier for people to find it.
I'll gladly help you with any info about all non-decay related shots, but there is no chance I tell anything about the decaying beauties. No exceptions.
Please respect that and don't post any info in the comments, they will be deleted without warning.

On one hand I totally agree. Let's keep the abandoned places as they are so they will remain in better form for longer. But on the other hand... I've recently started doing some urban exploration and I'd really love to know where the hell it was taken. I guess I'll just have to do some research and solve the puzzle :)

I think many people do see beauty in these places
but just don't find the time to go find them
that is why they are here right now

The thing is that it's great to try and protect these places as much as you can, but the one place that you're flipping out about, the communist shrine, is one of the most well known abandoned sites in the world. You may as well take a picture of the ferris wheel at Pripyat and yell at people for saying "Hey, I saw that in a video game and countless movies!"
